Summer’s shower brings sheets of rain
Sliding down my window pane
Like a cat I’m loathe to leave
till perhaps a slight reprieve
makes reaching shelter a safer bet
though I’ll still be soaking wet
She stands and waits out on the pier
The reason that I drove out here.
She beckons for me to join her there
Of the weather unaware
or more simply doesn’t care?
She had found the waiting boring
For the rain to stop pouring
And now her eyes are me imploring
That I could be dry, the car’s airtight,
but you’ll regret you lost the fight
and never dared to see this sight
I take a breath, my doors unlock
to join her warmth, on the cold, wet dock

I tried something a little different with the rhyme scheme so please let me know what you think about it.

Hee, I like the kitty analogy. Rhyming seemed to work well to me too.
